The Gourmet Block is a timeless classic and one of John Boos' first butcher block designs for the home kitchen. The idea at the time was to create a lighter, more versatile and compact work surface for convenient and efficient meal preparation at home. The block offers a solid work surface of 61 cm x 61 cm with a weight of 43 kg and has the ideal height for kitchen work at 91.4 cm. With the optional castors, you can turn the block into a mobile trolley to move it to any convenient location. It has four elegantly tapered square legs and a slatted shelf that is ideal for storing frequently used kitchen tools, equipment or cookbooks. Hard maple is a particularly sturdy hardwood with a light, neutral coloring that complements almost any decor, whether in a country or city kitchen. Since your block will attract a lot of attention, you should also choose a color that matches your kitchen decor (see options). It is manufactured in Effingham, IL, USA to Boos' famous end grain design and strict professional quality standards. The end grain work surface resists nicks and gouges and is gentle on knives so they stay sharp longer. Made exclusively from high-quality, renewable and sustainable North American hardwoods, these handcrafted blocks provide not only a sturdy work surface, but also authentic character, beauty and presence in your kitchen.
